I'll Take That Receipt, Thank you

There's a right way to complete a retail transaction.  Here it is:

  • "That'll be $46.50 please"
  • "Here's your change of $3.50"
  • "Here's your receipt"
  • "Thank you for shopping at Bill's Fabulous Emporium"
Frequently, cashiers will automatically stash the receipt in the bag, assuming that's where I want it.  However, I like to put it in my wallet, so I have to fish it out.  Also, it's bad form to just dump the change and receipt in my hand together, because then I have to separate them.  And don't get me started on cashiers who end the transaction with "There you go."
